description William Hack Overview
William Hack was an English chart maker active in the late seventeenth century and associated with the Thames School of manuscript cartography. He copied and arranged sailing information obtained from Spanish sources captured by the buccaneer Bartholomew Sharp, producing manuscript charts and atlases of the Pacific coasts of the Americas and other regions. His Buccaneer's Atlas contains coastlines, settlements, landmarks, harbor directions, shoals, distances, and notes about wrecks and voyages ([Library of Congress](https://blogs.loc.gov/maps/2020/08/william-hacke-a-pirates-cartographer/)).
