Published by Czech Games Edition in 2018, Trapwords is a party game that puts a variation on classic word-guessing formats like Taboo. In the game, one team selects a list of "trap words" that the opposing team's clue-giver is forbidden from saying while attempting to describe a secret target word. The opposing team must successfully guess the target word without accidentally triggering any of the hidden traps, navigating a fantasy dungeon theme as they progress.

How does Trapwords differ from Taboo?

In Trapwords, the opposing team secretly chooses forbidden words after seeing your target word. The clue-giver does not know the trap list, so a seemingly obvious clue can end the turn immediately.

How many people can play Trapwords?

The official player range is 4 to 8 or more people, divided into two teams. A typical game takes about 30 minutes.

What is the dungeon mechanic in Trapwords?

Teams advance through a dungeon by successfully explaining secret words without saying the hidden trapwords. Monster cards, curse cards, room tiles, and torches add challenges beyond ordinary word guessing.

What is included in the Trapwords box?

The game includes 50 double-sided word cards containing 400 standard and 400 fantasy words, along with monster cards, curse cards, room tiles, team figures, a sand timer, and trapword sheets. Czech Games Edition published the game in 2018.
