description Napier Barracks Overview
Napier Barracks is a former Ministry of Defence and British Army site in North Road, Folkestone, Kent, within the wider Shorncliffe Camp. The Home Office began using it as temporary accommodation for asylum seekers in September 2020 after identifying the surplus military site for that purpose. The accommodation use ended in December 2025, when the site was returned to the Ministry of Defence; the district council says it is intended for redevelopment with new homes.
