Shishapangma Massif

The Shishapangma Massif is located entirely within the borders of Tibet, China. It is unique among the world's tallest mountains because it is the only 8,000-meter peak that lies solely within Chinese territory.

Shishapangma stands at an elevation of 8,027 meters (26,335 feet). This makes it the fourteenth-highest mountain in the world, and one of the few peaks over 8,000 meters.

Shishapangma is often considered one of the more accessible 8,000-meter peaks due to its relatively lower elevation and straightforward standard route. However, mountaineers still face extreme avalanche risks and high-altitude hazards during the ascent.

While the exact translation is debated, the name Shishapangma is commonly translated from Tibetan to mean the grassy meadow above the pine forest. Some local legends also translate it as the ridge above the pastures.
