description Isthmus of Pallene Overview
The Isthmus of Pallene is the narrow neck of land at the northern end of Greece's Kassandra Peninsula, the westernmost of the three main peninsulas of Chalkidiki. In antiquity the area was known as Pallene, and the Corinthian colony of Potidaea was established at the isthmus around the sixth century BCE. The location controlled access to the peninsula and later became associated with the settlement of Nea Potidea and the Potidea Canal.
