Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

It carries no age statement, but it's widely reported to be around eight years old at bottling. Buffalo Trace Distillery deliberately keeps the exact age and mash bill percentages undisclosed, saying it varies by barrel selection.

The distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky is owned by the Sazerac Company. It's one of the most decorated distilleries in the world, also producing brands like Blanton's, W.L. Weller, E.H. Taylor Jr., and Eagle Rare on the same campus.

Demand exploded during the bourbon boom of the 2010s and the distillery simply doesn't have enough aged stock to meet it, so most retailers allocate their limited bottles. The situation has persisted for years, making shelf-price bottles of Buffalo Trace a genuine find.

Both are made at Buffalo Trace Distillery using the same low-rye Mash Bill #1, so they're close cousins. The main difference is that Eagle Rare carries a 10-year age statement and typically costs a bit more, around $35–$40 versus roughly $30 for Buffalo Trace where allocated.
