Galerina marginata

description Galerina marginata Overview

Galerina marginata is a poisonous agaric fungus commonly called the deadly galerina or autumn skullcap. It is a wood-rotting species that usually fruits on decaying conifer or hardwood logs and has brown to yellow-brown caps, brown gills, and a cinnamon-brown spore print. The mushroom contains amatoxins, including amanitins, and can cause delayed gastrointestinal illness followed by severe liver damage; it is often confused with edible wood-growing mushrooms such as honey fungus.
