Alpha Mission is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up released by SNK in 1985 for arcades. The game differentiates itself through a tile-combination mechanic in which players collect lettered pods that can be assembled to upgrade weapons and armor. It was ported to the NES and various later platforms, making it one of SNK's earlier recognizable arcade titles before the company became better known for the Neo Geo.
