description Antler moth Overview
The antler moth, Cerapteryx graminis, is a noctuid moth found across much of the Palearctic and common in many grassy areas of the British Isles. Adults have a wingspan of about 27 to 39 millimetres and are usually seen from June to September, both by day and at night. Its larvae feed on grasses in upland grassland, moorland, heath, and related habitats, and dense larval populations can strip large areas of grass on high ground.
