Astroni

description Astroni Overview

Astroni is a volcanic tuff cone and crater in the Campi Flegrei, or Phlegraean Fields, west of Naples, Italy. Formed by explosive volcanic activity roughly 4,000 years ago, its enclosed crater contains forest, several hills, and small bodies of water. The area is protected as the Cratere degli Astroni nature reserve and provides habitat for woodland plants, resident birds, and migratory wildlife.
