AstroSat is an Indian space observatory designed to study astronomical sources across ultraviolet and X-ray wavelengths. The Indian Space Research Organisation launched it in September 2015, making it India's first dedicated multi-wavelength astronomy satellite. Its instruments can observe objects such as stars, compact stellar systems, active galactic nuclei, and transient X-ray sources, including through coordinated observations in several energy bands.
