description Biomass Overview

Biomass is an ESA Earth Explorer satellite mission launched on 29 April 2025 aboard a Vega-C rocket from French Guiana. Its payload is the first space-borne P-band synthetic aperture radar, designed to measure forest biomass, height, and structure through cloud cover and forest canopies. The mission supports research on terrestrial carbon stocks and the role of forests in the carbon cycle, making it relevant to Earth observation and climate research.
