Bird Base

description Bird Base Overview

The bird base is a foundational fold of traditional origami, produced from a preliminary square base by petal-folding the front and back layers. The finished base has four long, narrow triangular flaps radiating from a central point. It is the starting point for the traditional crane (orizuru), the flapping bird, and a wide range of other bird, animal, and flower models, and more complex bases such as the frog base are built upon it. It is typically taught early in a folder's progression.
