The frog base is a traditional intermediate-level origami base known for producing multiple long, evenly spaced flaps, which make it especially suitable for folding animals with prominent legs, above all frogs. It is derived from the bird base: the four corners are blintz-folded to the center, and each resulting section is petal-folded and narrowed into a slender point. In addition to frog models, the base is used for other long-limbed animals and serves as the starting point for the traditional iris, or lily.
