description Brimham Rocks Overview
Brimham Rocks is a group of millstone grit formations on Brimham Moor in North Yorkshire, England. The rocks formed from river-deposited sands in the Carboniferous period and were later exposed and shaped by weathering, glacial erosion, and periglacial conditions after the last Ice Age. Their hard gritstone and varied bedding produced balanced and sculptural forms, and the site has been managed by the National Trust since 1970.
