Chal

description Chal Overview

Chal is a traditional fermented beverage made from camel’s milk and associated particularly with Turkmenistan and other parts of Central Asia. The milk is fermented by microorganisms, producing a pale drink with a sharply sour flavor and, depending on the process, some natural carbonation and alcohol. Chal is linked to pastoral and nomadic food traditions, where camel milk has served as both a daily food and a storable fermented product.
