Equuleus is a small, faint constellation in the northern sky, positioned just north of the celestial equator. Its Latin name means little horse or foal, and classical tradition associates it with a young horse. The constellation was included among the 48 listed by Ptolemy in the second century and remains one of the 88 modern constellations; it covers about 72 square degrees.
