Flame Shoulder

description Flame Shoulder Overview

The Flame Shoulder, Ochropleura plecta, is a noctuid moth distributed across the Palearctic, from western Europe through Siberia to Korea and Japan. Its reddish-brown forewings carry a creamy-yellow streak along the leading edge, or costa, that gives the species its common name. Adults fly at night, and the larvae feed on herbaceous plants including dock and plantain; in Britain the species occurs in gardens, meadows, and woodland margins.
