Grey dagger

description Grey dagger Overview

The grey dagger is a noctuid moth with the scientific name Acronicta psi. Adults are generally grey and have a dark, dagger-like marking on the forewings, although identification can be difficult because the species closely resembles the dark dagger, Acronicta tridens. It occurs in parts of Europe and is associated with habitats where its caterpillar food plants grow, including woodland edges and other areas with shrubs or trees.
