description Headstand Overview

A headstand is an inversion in which a person balances on the crown of the head, usually with the hands or forearms supporting part of the body's weight for stability. It is a foundational technique in yoga, where it is known as sirsasana, and in gymnastics, breakdancing, and general acrobatic training. Practicing it develops balance and strength in the shoulders, arms, neck, and core, and it is commonly taught as a progression toward more advanced inverted skills.
