Holmia

description Holmia Overview

Holmia is a genus of olenellid trilobites from the early Cambrian Period. It is particularly associated with Scandinavia and nearby parts of the Baltic region. The genus gives its name to the Holmia Biozone, a biostratigraphic interval used to correlate lower Cambrian rocks in parts of northern Europe and adjacent regions. Holmia is important to studies of early trilobite evolution, Cambrian marine communities, and the timing of trilobite appearances in the fossil record.
