Illaenus is a genus of trilobites that lived during the Ordovician and Silurian periods. It is characterized by a broad, relatively smooth cephalon and prominent eyes, features associated with the family Illaenidae. Fossils of Illaenus are especially well represented in the Baltic region, making the genus a familiar component of European Paleozoic fossil assemblages.
