description InSight Overview
InSight was a stationary NASA lander designed to investigate the internal structure and geological activity of Mars. It landed in the Elysium Planitia region in November 2018 and deployed the first seismometer placed directly on the Martian surface, recording marsquakes, meteorite impacts, and vibrations caused by the atmosphere. Its measurements helped scientists constrain the size and composition of the planet's crust, mantle, and core before the mission ended in 2022.
