description Monogem Ring Overview

The Monogem Ring is a large, faint supernova remnant projected across the constellation Gemini and neighboring parts of the sky. It is most clearly observed in X-rays and was mapped by the ROSAT observatory as an extensive shell produced by an ancient stellar explosion. Estimates place it roughly 1,000 light-years away and about 86,000 years old, with the pulsar PSR B0656+14 located near its center.
