Nova Luna

Nova Luna is a 2019 tile-placement game designed by Uwe Rosenberg and Corné van Moorsel where players draft moon-phase tiles from a shared track. You then place these tiles to chain colored task wheels together to satisfy your personal objectives. It emphasizes spatial puzzle-solving over direct combat with other players.

The game was co-designed by renowned board game designer Uwe Rosenberg, famous for hits like Agricola and A Feast for Odin, alongside Corné van Moorsel. It was published in 2019 by Feuerland Spiele. Rosenberg's signature mechanical depth is clearly present in the game's objective-chaining mechanics.

While both games feature spatial tile placement and the drafting mechanisms common in Uwe Rosenberg designs, Nova Luna focuses specifically on chaining colored task wheels rather than creating a perfectly filled polyomino grid. It does not have the tight, two-player tug-of-war economy of Patchwork. Instead, it offers a more abstract, puzzle-like experience for up to four players.

Nova Luna is designed for 1 to 4 players and features a dedicated solo mode that mirrors the multiplayer experience. A typical game takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on player count and analysis paralysis. The rules-light approach makes it highly accessible for casual board game groups.
