help Peace FAQ

Where is the climbing route Peace?

Peace climbs the gold-and-black face of Medlicott Dome in Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park. It is a technical bolt-protected face route on high-quality granite.

What grade is Peace?

Peace is generally rated around 5.13c. Its difficulty comes from thin holds, exact foot placements, and sustained face climbing rather than crack-jamming power.

Who established Peace?

Ron Kauk established the route in the mid-1990s. It became one of Tuolumne's best-known hard face climbs and a reference point for later generations of granite climbers.

How does Peace differ from the Bachar-Yerian?

Both are difficult face routes on Medlicott Dome, but Peace is much harder technically and was developed as a bolted project in a later era. The 1981 Bachar-Yerian is famous for dangerous runouts and its traditional 5.11c character.
