Scheelite

description Scheelite Overview

Scheelite is a calcium tungstate mineral with the chemical formula CaWO4. It is an important ore of tungsten and is also collected as a mineral specimen because crystals can show bright blue-white fluorescence under shortwave ultraviolet light. Natural scheelite may occur in white, yellow, or other pale colors, and its name commemorates the Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele, whose work is associated with tungsten.
