Susanna

description Susanna Overview

Susanna is an English oratorio by George Frideric Handel, first performed in 1749. It is based on the story of Susanna and the Elders, a narrative included among the additions to the Book of Daniel, in which a woman is falsely accused and vindicated through the intervention of the young Daniel. The work uses soloists, chorus, and orchestra, and its musical language includes pastoral scenes alongside more serious moral and dramatic episodes.
