description Testudo Overview

Testudo was a proposed tortoise constellation introduced by John Hill in 1754. Hill associated the figure with stars in the region of Cetus, including 13, 14, 20, and 42 Ceti in its outline. The constellation did not become part of the standardized celestial map and is now classed as obsolete; it is absent from the 88 constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union.
