description Tiryns Overview

Tiryns is a Mycenaean archaeological site on a low hill in the Argolid of the northeastern Peloponnese, Greece. Its citadel contains a palace complex, tunnels, and massive Cyclopean fortifications built from large stones; UNESCO records sections of the walls as reaching about 8 metres in thickness and 13 metres in height. Together with Mycenae, Tiryns forms a World Heritage property important for the study of Late Bronze Age Aegean society.
