165 Loreley is a large C-complex asteroid in the outer main belt, estimated at about 180 km across. C. H. F.
Peters discovered it on 9 August 1876 in Clinton, New York, and it was named after the Lorelei, a figure from German folklore associated with the Rhine. The asteroid completes one orbit around the Sun in about 5.53 years and rotates in about 7.23 hours.
