description 185 Eunike Overview

185 Eunike is a large, dark C-type asteroid in the main asteroid belt. Christian H. F. Peters discovered it on March 1, 1878, at Litchfield Observatory in Clinton, New York, and the object was named for Eunike, one of the Nereids in Greek mythology.

JPL-linked physical data give it an estimated diameter of about 160 kilometers, a rotation period of roughly 21.8 hours, and an orbit around the Sun that takes about 4.53 years.
