description 187 Lamberta Overview

187 Lamberta is a large, dark C-type asteroid in the main belt, with an estimated diameter of about 147 km. French astronomer Jérôme Eugène Coggia discovered it on 11 April 1878, and it was named for Swiss-German mathematician and astronomer Johann Heinrich Lambert, who lived from 1728 to 1777. Lamberta completes an orbit around the Sun in about 4.5 years.
