Calendula

description Calendula Overview

Calendula usually refers to Calendula officinalis, commonly called pot marigold, an annual or short-lived herbaceous plant associated with southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. It bears daisy-like flower heads in yellow, orange, or cream shades and is grown in gardens as a cool-season ornamental. Calendula flowers and leaves have a history of culinary use, and the flower heads have traditionally been used in dyes and topical preparations. Traditional use does not by itself establish that a calendula product is medically effective or safe.
