Ditomopyge

description Ditomopyge Overview

Ditomopyge is an extinct genus of proetid trilobites known from Carboniferous and Permian marine rocks. It belongs to a lineage that persisted late in trilobite history, when trilobite diversity was already much lower than in the Paleozoic's earlier periods. Ditomopyge is studied by paleontologists interested in late Paleozoic trilobite evolution and the eventual disappearance of trilobites at the end of the Permian.
