description Paladin Overview

Paladin is a genus of phillipsiid trilobites from the Carboniferous Period. Its fossils are known from marine strata in Europe and from other regions represented in the phillipsiid record. The genus belongs to a late-surviving branch of proetid trilobites and is often found in enrolled specimens, in which the body was flexed into a protective posture. Paladin is relevant to studies of Carboniferous trilobite diversity, enrollment, and late Paleozoic survival.
