description Larimar Overview

Larimar is a blue to blue-green variety of pectolite, a calcium sodium silicate mineral. The color is associated with copper and commonly appears in irregular patterns that resemble clouds, waves, or pale sea water. Larimar is found in the Dominican Republic, particularly in the southwestern province of Barahona, where it occurs in volcanic rock. It is mainly cut into cabochons, beads, and polished ornamental pieces for jewelry and mineral collections.
