description Lonchodomas Overview

Lonchodomas is an extinct Ordovician trilobite genus in the raphiophorid group of the order Asaphida. Its defining feature is a long, straight, sword-like frontal spine formed by an anterior extension of the glabella; species also have five thoracic segments and a relatively short pygidium. Fossils are reported from parts of Europe, North America, and Argentina, making the genus relevant to studies of unusual Ordovician trilobite form.
