description Ogygiocaris Overview
Ogygiocaris is an extinct genus of large asaphid trilobites from the Ordovician Period. Fossils are known from Wales and Scandinavia, and Welsh specimens can reach roughly 12 centimetres in length. Like other trilobites, it had a mineralized exoskeleton divided into a cephalon, a segmented thorax, and a pygidium, with a broad, relatively flat body outline that is characteristic of several asaphid forms.
